Posted - Jul 13 2009 : 14:21:25 I am having problems sending to hotmail/msn accounts. The emails I send to all other providers go through just fine and end up in the inbox. Hotmail doesn't even allow the messages through however, so they don't end up in the junk folder or in the inbox.
I am currently sending from an smtp server (reverse dns is enabled). I am wondering if this problem could be caused because 'x-mailer: MailListKing 6.2.8.2202' is showing up in the header.

Posted - Jul 18 2009 : 11:48:39 Actually, MSN/Hotmail, as do others, use a method of seeing if the same e-mail is being sent to multiple addresses. If you stagger the sends to the same TLD a little you will get around this. MSN is a bit more aggressive in how they monitor opposed to other providers. I have also seen them store the mail for days or weeks before delivering. This is pretty annoying since the user gets dated material that by that time really does look like spam.
I have already requested the feature in MLK that would stagger TLD's to help reduce the amt of high level filtering. (HLF = no bounce, no delivery)

Posted - Jul 16 2009 : 17:32:57 I am not sending from a residential IP address, so I don't think that is why my messages are getting blocked. So how would I go about getting the x-mailer out of the header?
I currently have 'Send via a Mail Server' (using SMTP) checked as my sending method, and it is going out through our SMTP server.

Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 20:36:54 Hotmail may be recognizing that you are sending from a residential IP address (with a local mail server) and thus blocking your messages out right. You can try changing the x-mailer but i doubt it will have an effect.
It is important that if you are using the SMTP Server that you specify the option to automatically resend to any recipients that fail, and specify that the last sending attempt should be via normal SMTP.
