Nigel,
I'm sending HTML formatted email and using the plain text editor to deliver customised text to users whose email clients don't display the HTML.

But some subscribers would like to receive only the plain text content.

Is there some option to deliver only plain text to certain subscribers?

Obviously I could sent the message twice, to two different sets of users, depending on their choice of plain text only or HTML and plaintext, but I'm looking to cut out that step.

I am already using conditional text to tailor the message contents.

Thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian

Yes, you could do it that way too, a Custom Field, Plain Text=Yes search, and then for the full text recipients just do an inverted search of this.

Another way is to use the our new feature...

Search on the plain text custom field, to find all the plain text recipients and then send them out the newsletter.

Then select the full group/mailing list and create a rich text newsletter. But this time click the "To" button and choose the option not to send to anyone who has been sent to in the last day. All the plain text recipients will be ignored...

Nigel
thanks for the reply, which is quite understandable.
I only have about 1 tenth of 1 percent of subscribers who want plaintext.

Nevertheless, especially as there may be a connection with disability, I want to support the request.

In the absence of explicit support in MLK, rather than follow your suggestion to create a separate group I will probably add a custom field and select on that.

Thanks for a great product.

Hi Adrian

Automatic support for plain text subscribers is one of those features that came to being implemented (it is included in the database schema and its implementation was spec'd) however we just couldn't extract enough interest from our users to implement.

If enough users ask for the feature we will certainly include it, but surpisingly, thus far, it has been very rarely requested.

I recommend you add a variant of your group ("MyGroup_PlainText") to handle plain text subscribers.
