Posted - Mar 01 2009 : 02:55:31 Using MLK Prof 4.38P
Hadn't noticed this before, but have just been attempting to send a mail to addresses from mails contained in a folder in Outlook, using the "Add Addresses" feature, selecting the appropriate Outlook folder, and ticking the "from address" and "message body" tickboxes, then clicking on OK. Everything OK so far - MLK finds 41 addresses (sounds about right) and displays them in a window titled "Process Addresses (Step 2 of 2)".
Now for the problem. Clicked the "Add to Mailing List" radio button, selected the correct group into which the addresses are to go, and click on OK. At this stage I was expecting to see 41 addresses in my group, but in fact there are only 5. Repeated several times with different outlook folders and groups but similar results obtained.
What's gone wrong?

Posted - Mar 01 2009 : 02:55:31 OK, i'll need to have a look at the debug log. I will email you details.
FYI, newer versions of MLK display a summary at the end of importing advising why addresses were rejected.

Posted - Mar 01 2009 : 02:55:31 Hi Nigel
OK I cleared out all the history from the logs and errors tabs to make sure we started with a known state. Then I repeated the test and found the same results (i.e. only 5 addresses going into group). Then checked error tabs as you suggest - still blank.

Posted - Mar 01 2009 : 02:55:31 Hi Nick
Under View>Logs and Errors, does the errors tab or log tab help understand why the remaining addresses were rejected?

I see that you've upgraded to the latest version. I assume there are no problems in that one?

Posted - Feb 21 2009 : 03:02:45 Hi Nick
You have an old version, but I don't recall any particular issue related to the processing of addresses.
The 690 addresses found do not include any that are blocked by your rules (Under View>Options, Blocking) such as blocking unsubscribed addresses, or those of a specific domain or country.
Can you please generate a debug log and send it to me so i can give you more specific advice.

Posted - Feb 20 2009 : 13:11:12 Hello again
A bit of an old thread, this one, but it's reared it's head again. I thought it had gone away, but it seems that now I've moved to the new PC it's showing these symptoms once more, plus a new one I hadn't noticed before.
To recap (as it was 18 months ago):-
Scanning an Outlook folder for addresses produces a list of addresses. These are displayed and you are invited to select which MLK group they are to be added to. When you select a group, the addresses displayed are put into the group folder for subsequent use. Except that they weren't ALL put in that folder. In a real-life example I've just run, I scan a folder and get 690 addresses. They are then put in a folder. The problem is that only 54 of them actually get there. Now I understand that of all the addresses that could potentially be extracted, some of them will be malformed or for whatever will be unusable. But isn't it the case that the 690 count I am shown represents the number of usable ones, after the unusable ones are discarded? So surely all of the 690 should go into the folder? Nothing is shown in the logfile shown when I select "Display logs and errors" from the View menu.
As I said, I thought this had gone away, but it's back.
Then I found another thing - in my keenness to send a test email to a selection of email addreses that I control, I created a group called "nick". I manually entered 4 addresses in that group. But only one is retained. Using the "Manually Add" feature, I find I cannot add addresses to groups which already have some content. I can add a single address to empty groups, but that's it. I can delete an address OK from any group with content, but I can only add a single address manually to empty groups.
I rather suspect that this is linked in some way to the earlier problem.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?
Help!
