 Pulsing of some frames in made slideshow

I have version 6.12 of PixPlay.

I have made a slideshow video containing detailed landscapes, e.g.
woodland scenes with sharp brightly lit features such as grasses
alongside dark areas. Besides the shimmering which has been
discussed in previous posts, which I can live with, I now have
a pulsing effect on some slides only. This appears to be a
darkening, lasting about 20 ms perhaps, at intervals of somewhat
less than a second. It occurs on the same slides and is at its
worst when there is much detail and hence the least jpeg
compression in the original jpeg files. The slides concerned are
stationary images.
The video was created for PAL 4:3 using the maximum quality setting.
The effect is the same when the DVD image written to disc by
PixPlay is played in a PC using a DVD player emulator, or when it is
played from a physical DVD after burning, either using a PC or using
a TV DVD player, so the fault is not with the disc or the disc
burning or reading hardware or software.
I made part of the same slideshow video previously, using the
16:9 maximum quality setting, and while the shimmering effect was
present on the same slides, the more severe pulsing effect was not
present. This weekend I intend to remake the whole slideshow with
the 16:9 aspect ratio, to see if that cures it.
I have a few short (10-15 s) video clips in the slideshow, with
their own sound, but the rest of the slideshow is silent. I found
that the sound for the second clip started and finished a bit
early, and the timing was progessively further out for successive
ones. Could this be relevant?
Can you suggest a cure, preferably other than installing the latest
update, as I am content in general with the facilities I am used to,
and would prefer to avoid any upward compatibility issues with
my many existing slideshow projects.

Hi

Sorry to hear about the pulsing. Other users who have experienced this have reported that it seemed to be related to particular transition effects. Have you noticed any such pattern?

Also if you were able to create a small example video that illustrated the issue i would like to see it. You might need to use a service such as www.transferbigfiles.com if it is too large for email.

Thanks. I am sorry I have not got back to you earlier this week.
Last weekend I did remake the slideshow using the same software
version, but setting the aspect ratio to 16:9 instead of 4:3.
This time I made a single project slideshow instead of a multiple
slideshow containing two projects.

Because I changed two things, I do not know which was effective
in (nearly) curing the problem, but the result is very much better.
I just get an acceptable bit of shimmering. Only one image in
the whole 70 minute slideshow still shows noticeable pulsing.
The timing of the sound component in the video clips also is now
working correctly.

I notice that the software produced many, shorter temporary files
in the temporary work folder, presumably for the included video
clips and for slides with motion, as well as some long files.
I guess that making an individual project slideshow might have used
some different parts of the software than are used for the corresponding operation in making a multiple slideshow.

Hi

You should install at least v6.32 which is a free update for you and will not present any compatibility issues (nor should v7 for the record).

If it is still occuring with that release then please e-mail me your log file
