When I play a 16.9 and 4.3 dvd on widescreen everything is ok. When I play a 4.3 dvd on a standard 4.3 TV the sides and top are cut off.
To correct this should I go to click view> options> other> advanced options to frame caption margin? If so it is preset at 1% and have no clue what percentage to use. |

I had this same problem with creating 16:9 slideshows. I solved it by resizing all my pictures to no more than a maximum of 1200x800. As long as the picture is not greater than either of those maximums it will display the whole picture. Lots of work though to resize a large number of photos. |

Sorry i should have clarified that there are a few situations where the borders option does not have any effect, mainly this applies to images where you have added text or that use motion effects.
The method you use to manually apply a border should work well though.
My apologies for not suggesting it sooner.

I have very few pictures that the heads are being cut off of. There may be a better way but I increased the TV safe area from 3.5% to 7% which seemed to be where the heads were cut of on a 4.3 DVD. On each picture where the heads were being cut off I clicked properties, edit the image, add borders to photo and added a border, which I could see, until the heads were below the red line showing the TV safe area. I burned the slideshow to DVD and everything is fine. I assume I can follow the same procedure for a widescreen DVD by setting the TV safe area back to 3.5% which is where the heads appear to be cut off. The only problem is I can't figure a way to remove the border once I have added it other than to delete the photo and add the photo back. |

Did you mean Click view, options, other, advanced options to compatibility and add border to frames. I tried that and the add border to frames was set at 3% and I checked the box and left it at 3%. When I clicked View and preview slideshow no borders showed and the picture stayed the same. I went to the add borders box and changed it to 30%, which I am sure is too high, I previewed the slideshow again and again no border showed and the picture stayed the same. The TV safe area is set at 3.5% and everything above the red line indicating the TV safe area is cut off and everything below the TV safe area is there when it is burned to a DVD. My question is should there be a difference in the preview after I add a border and should a border show indicating the amount of border needed. |

OK, then it is the overscan area (screens do not generally display the full image supplied by a DVD).
You will need to specify a margin (to add a border area around the frame) under View > Options, Other, Advanced.

When I perview the slideshow the full pictures are displayed.
When I test from the burn slideshow the full pictures are displayed.
When I play both the widescreen and the 4.3 dvd on my computer the top, sides and bottom of the pictures are cut off. The same thing happens when I play them on my widescreen TV.
When I play the 4.3 disc on a standard TV a larger area is cut off the picture.
Seems like the areas I am loosing coincide with the red lines that indicate the TV safe area when I click the add text button.
Hope there is a solution, don't like loosing heads. |

Hi
Is this same cut-off visible when you select View > Preview Slideshow?
How about if you select File > Burn Slideshow, choose the DVD slideshow format and click the "Test" button? Are your frames cut-off there?
Finally, what about if you play your created disk on your computer?

Sorry I didn't clarify. Yes the tops, sides and bottoms of the photos are being cut off. I was wrong when I stated that everything was fine on 16.9 TV, it is the same on both 16.9 and 4.3 TV. I changed some of the slideshows I had already created, I clicked Frame, Frame Properties, Remove borders and unchecked the frame cropping box now the remove borders tab is disabled. I then clicked View, options, other, advanced options and changed the caption margin to 5%, then 8%, then 10%, thinking this would add a border around the frame. I then burned a multiple slideshow to disc using 4 different slideshows to see what the difference would be. Nothing changed from the original slideshow I burned before disabling the auto cropping or changing the caption margin. I am sure I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for any help. |

Hi
If you mean the photos themselves are being cut-off then there are two possibilities:
- The image is being "Auto-cropped"
Select Frame > Frame Properties and disable the "Automatic Cropping" option on the "Remove Borders" tab.
- Your TV does not display the full frame of the slideshow: You may be able to adjust this on your TV, but alternatively you can specify a margin (to add a border area around the frame) under View > Options, Other, Advanced
