Posted - Aug 28 2011 : 12:34:44 DVD Pixplay 7.02 I burned a combined DVD/PC format slideshow. It plays fine on my computer, both using the Pixplay viewer and on Nero or the Windows viewer. But it won't play on my cousin's older DVD player. A DVD burned with only the audio and video directories works, though.
I'll be mailing out a bunch of these to various family members. Would it be safer to burn 2 disks for everyone, one with the DVD slideshow and another just for PCs?

Yes, that would be right. LCD screens have very little overscan compared with the older CRT screens.

Posted - Aug 29 2011 : 13:08:08 Thanks, Nigel. I checked the disks with another DVD player and they worked just fine. I think it's cousin Bob's system. I did find a way to burn a DVD that works for him, though it seems I'm going to have to optimize a slideshow for his system with an old 4:3 CRT TV. It has a lot more overscan than the LCD, etc. TVs! Thanks for the quick response!

Posted - Aug 28 2011 : 15:47:31 Hi John
DVD+PC format is a non-standard one, so it may have problems with some of the more cantankerous players out there. Remember that almost all computers can playback a standard DVD disk (albeit without the full quality of the PC format) so you might consider just sending out the disk in DVD (only) format.
