Hi All, I am creating a dvd of a wedding I photographed at the weekend.

Everything has gone well until I play the finished dvd.

I am getting a sort of flashing on quite a few of the images. It's not the whole image flashing on and off but pixels within the images and sometimes these flashing pixels go grainy, like a fine sand is being sprinkled. The flashing is at a fast rate, on and off every half a second.

I wrote the files to my HDD and played it from there on my PC and it does the same, so it isn't the dvd player or tv.

Anybody got any ideas what might be wrong?

Cheers Alan

hope you can fix it!

OK, I'll have a look at that. But note that we resolved the shimmering issue by reverting to the encoding code were using prior to v6.10, so at worst the quality will be equivalent to our earlier v6 versions.

Hi

Is this the fade in at start/fade out at end option?

OK, I've downloaded the update, tried the same burn to youtube format of the same project I had shimmering images on and now the fade in and fade out don't fade smoothly, they hang and lurch. I only use fade in and out.
The shimmering is much improved though....

Thanks for sending the test project, Liz,

We were able to reproduce the issue and have issued a fix in v6.16:

I've just had the same problem with my latest slideshow!

no Guernsey in the drop down country list..grrrr

Thanks. It's quite a big slideshow so I'll create a mini one with some slides that are particularly bad and some ok ones.

OK, that means you don't have any email software configured on your system.

Please do it this way:

1. In DVD PixPlay select File > Save As
2. Select the filename from the "File Name" box at the bottom of the window and copy it (Ctrl+C)
3. In your email software/web email start an email to me and click "Attach"
4. Paste the filename you copied (Ctrl+V)
5. Click Send

Hi

It sounds like an issue related to motion effects.

Can you please open the project and then on the DVD PixPlay menu select Help > Send Email to Support.

I'm having the same problem - it only happens on slides where there is a lot of fine detail and dark colours, like trees and ripples on the sea. The flickers show on the pc and on the tv and I have made more than one dvd to try to find where the problem lies i.e. playback, the disc itself, but can't solve it.

Hi Alan

Have you tried specifying the highest quality encoding option (using the Alternate encoder) on Step 3 of the "Burn Disk" wizard?

Also, try going into View > Options, Advanced and changing the DVD MPEG Audio Setting as that can affect playback on some players.

Finally, you might check whether particular transition or motion effects exacerbate the issue.
