Video files newly converted to .avi format play at less than half speed in preview. Previous conversion to MPEG files did not preview but burnt to disc OK, although sound and picture were out of sync!

Hi
I just read Nigel's posting re WMV files and converted a couple to try SUCCESS at last That looks like the way to go so will see how a 'mixed' video slide show goes.

I have done a few test slideshows since downloading V5.02
1. Original avi files play with perfect timing.
2. Files converted from Quicktime movie (my camera), to avi still have delayed soundtrack. These files play at a faster than normal speed when previewed in the little viewer window.
3. Slideshow with a mixture plays as in 2.
Any more suggestions after all of above advice has been followed? |

The sound usualy starts after the first image starts. So try putting in a black screen at the start, you can then use the timing of that to adjust the sound start up.If you start off with the black slide having a time of 10 secs you can adjust that up or down to suit the sound startup .

The avi files play at normal speed on other players and I have decided to ignore the preview speed but on burning the latest DVD I still have the problem of sound running about 10 seconds behind the pictures - amusing in some situations! Any suggestions? |

If you play the AVI files in other programs do they play at normal speed?

Try this.........Try increasing the video hardware acceleration. There are two video hardware acceleration settings—one in the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, and one in the Windows operating system. You must change both settings.
To change the setting in the Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab. Move the Video acceleration slider to Full.
To change the setting in Windows, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Display, click the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to Full.
DVD PixPlay uses an encoding library for video conversion, but standard windows drivers for preview. That means that there are some formats that it has no problem converting but for which it cannot display a preview because a driver cannot be accessed.
For some MPEG formats you will need to download the requisite drivers if you want to see a preview.
Windows does not include a driver for MJpeg but you can download one from:
