This is probably a problem for the makers of my HDD Dvd Recorder (Pioneer), but I will ask in any case, you may be able to help...

I have been using +RW disks whilst testing. These play OK on my Pioneer. Now I have something ready to give to people, I have recorded onto (TDK) DVD +R x4 disks. These are recognised by the Pioneer as DVD disks, but it cannot play them.

I have an old Yamaha DVD player which plays them OK, also these disks play OK on the Pioneer when I have recorded DVD onto them from other software.

There is a note in the Pioneer manual which may give a clue:

"This recorder cannot play or record unfinalised Video mode and DVD +R disks recorded on another recorder"

Is the bit about "unfinalised" a clue, or are there any settings within Pixplay whick might help, please? Or might -R disks work?

thanks (in hope)

Terry

On step 3 of 3(DVD FORMAT) in the BURN WIZARD select ADVANCE under the ADVANCE BURNING OPTION select the ADANCED TAB under the OPTIONS SECTION make sure the FINALIZE DISK BOX IS CHECKED.

Roxio Creator reports the (unreadable) disks burned by Pixplay as being "Open" (but Roxio cannot finalize them). When I generate the DVD files to HDD using Pixplay, then use Roxio to burn the DVD, Roxio reports the DVD as being "Closed", and the Pioneer player can play them OK.

So, the problem seems to be in how the disks are burned, not something inherently wrong in the disks themselves.

Hi Terry,

> "This recorder cannot play or record unfinalised Video mode and DVD +R disks recorded on another recorder"

By default, PixPlay will always finalize your disks.

However you are using DVD+R disks, and this recorder does not support them (exluding those it burns itself).

Go to the following link and enter the make and model numbers of your dvd players---it will tell you what type of dics they can play.

DVD PIXPLAY automatically finalizes a disc during the burning process so it is more likely the the wrong type DVD'S are being used. Try using a different manufacturer or a different type of disc, that is, -R instead of +R.
