Jim, I am a newbie to your program - just did the upgrade offer to the pro version today. My biggest worry is trying to put the existing soundtrack on the .pps presentation to the new system. I have not been able to capture the sound clip on the power point presentation to an MP3 file, is there a relatively easy way to do this?? Perhaps I should point out tha I am over 80, so am possibly a bit slow on the uptake of some of the newfangled programs!! I'sd be grateful for any help anyone on the forums could provide. My thanks in anticipation! Neil |

Hi Enkay
Yes, you will need to manually add any sounds in your pps slideshow to your PixPlay project. To do this select Edit>Slideshow Properties from the DVD PixPlay menu, and select the Background Music tab. Click the Add button and then browse to the PowerPoint sound file.
If you are unsure what sound file the PowerPoint presentation is using:
1. Run PowerPoint
2. Select File>Open
3. Browse to the PPT or PPS file and click OK
4. You will see a small sound icon (generally on the first page), right click it and select "Edit Sound Object"
5. In the Information section you will see the filename for the music file

I am also a newbie to this program --pro version 4.0. I downloaded
it yesterday and so I to will have to depend on Nigel to answer
questions on how this program should act. Regarding Power Point the
following should be followed:
PowerPoint by default links to sound files greater than 100Kb.
This mans that if you embed your sound file into your PowerPoint presentation
and send your presentation by email,or play your presentation on another machine,
the sound file will not play.
To embed your sound file into PowerPoint Choose "Options" from the
Tools main menu and go to the General tab.
1) Set the value next to "Link sounds with file size greater than"
to 5000 kb. This will allow you to embed sound files of up to 5
megabytes each.
2) Enter a higher number if you wish to embed even larger sound
files.
3) Click OK.
If you have already added sounds to your presentation before
following steps 1 -3 above, then you will need to locate and delete
each of the sound files, and re-insert them using Insert> Movies
and Sounds> Sound from File....
The sounds you re-insert this way and any sounds (with
file sizes less than 5000kb or about 5mb) will be embedded
into your PPT file, not linked. Your PowerPoint presentation (PPT
file), will now be larger this way, but the sounds won't get lost,
and will be included when distributing your presentation.
This is how I understand Power Point(VERSION 2003) works--however,
it will be up to Nigel to explain how it works in PRO VERSION 4.0

Reading the HELP file today(late night reading) I found this:
Note: DVD PixPlay will not import transitions, background
music, animations or other native PowerPoint features.
So you will have to manually add the background music.
