A year or so ago I made several slideshows on a Cd-RW, and choose the VCD format to burn it with Pixplay. They played on my DVD player just fine.
And then I started choosing the DVD format for the last several slideshows, which played fine too. But I found I couldn't copy the show back on my computer to make another copy with that format. I couldn't open the thing to copy it. And I do save my completed slideshows, but I did a system restore and lost all of them. So, I had hoped that by burning new ones in the VCD format, I could always go back at a later time and make a copies, should I ever want to.
So now my question....I just made a new one using the VCD format on a CD-rw, and my player would not play it. I got a "disk error" message. Is there something else that I need to change in the settings when I burn in the VCD format? The show does play on my computer, but not my dvd player. And I didn't have that problem before with the same player.

Hi Bettei

1. DVD and VCD formats convert your slideshow into a video, so once they are burned there is no way to bring them back to DVD PixPlay and re-edit them. However if you burn in Image or DVD+Image format then you can copy the content back to your computer and re-edit.

What you can do with DVD and VCD slideshow disks is use your burning software (such as Nero) to copy the content to another disk.

2. As Jim mentioned, something must have changed. Try using different, name brand disks.

BETTEI

You mention that you have played VCD disks on it before, it is possible that the disk manufacturer is not compatible with your player---so try using a different brand. CD-RW disks are actually more compatible with most DVD players.

If the VCD plays on your computer then that indicates that there were no issues with the burning.
