When I record while showing the slides, the sound is very staticy. Don't have that problem with the mike in any other software.

Try selecting the "Sound Recorder" item in the Accessories, Entertaiment folder under the Windows Start menu. Try recording with that to see if any recording works on your computer.

Also try recording in a different program and then add it to your DVD PixPlay project (i.e. in place of background music).
