Posted - Feb 03 2009 : 08:06:48 I found this wonderful program some days ago and was really amazed about its possibilities (especially the image motion effects) and how user friendly the program is.
Something I tried and what could possibly improved/added is the motion effect for panorama images. I have some panorama images which are very wide (about 3000 x 500 pixel). I used "Pan from Left to Right/Top to bottom" with a long display time (10 secs). It worked okay, but a bit jerky, even after exporting to a video file. I assume, that's caused by the "top to bottom" movement. So what I am asking for: addition of motion effect "Pan from Left to Right" or "from Right to Left" without the top-to-bottom movement - just horizontal (with full image height). |

Thank you for your feedback.
I can't reproduce the vertical movement issue. Is this when you preview your slideshow, burn it to DVD (or alternately use the Test button in the Burn Slideshow wizard), or both?
What is the resolution of your PC screen. If burning what format did you select? PAL DVD?

What we mean by that is that for a landscape (wide) image it will pan from Left to Right. Whereas for a portrait (tall) image it will pan from top to bottom.
Oh, if this is the case then it's fine, I haven't tried a tall image with that function.

So for a panorama photo you should only see one long left to right pan. This may be a bit jerky for a very wide image so ensure you use a longer display time.
If i can get a bit technical, your image is 3000 x 500 pixels, so - assuming your TV is 4:3 (i.e. not widescreen) - then the image is 4 1/2 screens wide. With a ten second display time an object on the image (e.g. a building) will whizz from one side of the screen to the other in about 2 seconds, that will certainly make it seem jerky.
Errm, I was wrong with my 10 secs statement , in reality it were 20 secs. I tried in the meantime with 30 secs, and there is the same effect: the scrolling tempo is not steady. This might be rounding errors of the program algorithm. If the program would insert a pause of fixed length after every single transition frame, the movement would be much smoother. For faster scrolls pixels need to be skipped, that's clear, but that's no problem, if you jump to every second pixel (or every third pixel) in a regular way. As it looks now, the program plays some frames pixel by pixel, then it gets aware it's behind the time and plays a sort of fast-forward etc.
It would really be cool, if you could get the panorama scroll more steady. All the other transitions (with zoom in and out) look really smooth and impressive! I'm very enthusiastic of this program from the first time I tried it!

EDIT
I now tried again, and there is definitely a slight vertical scrolling additional to the horizontal scrolling. |
