Posted - Nov 03 2009 : 11:47:06 We have been recently creating a new slide show, when we try to add music the program will let us add music but when we click the "play sound file" button it will play it. Also when we preview the slideshow the music does not playing. We have created several of these slide shows on the same computer with the same MP3s that are stored on this computer. The message we am getting is " an error was encountered playing the file, Jimmy Buffet- Changes in Latitudes, Changes in attitudes.mp3. You may not have adequate drivers to play this format on your system (cannot determine the device type from the given filename extension)." We have upgraded pixplay to 335 with no change. We can also play our mp3s on this computer through other programs such as music match jukebox and windows media player so we have adequate drivers. It has worked for us in the past and seems to be not working now. We can not figure out how to make it work again.
Thanks for your help! |

Try installing an MP3 driver using a codec pack such as K-Lite:

or
ffdshow:

When previewing your slideshow or a sound file in DVD PixPlay it uses the standard Windows drivers (which Media Player does not use), so if you get such an error it means that there is a problem with your multimedia drivers. Generally this occurs because they are messed up by installation of some multimedia software.
Please download the MCI Tester, run it and let Nigel know what results you get for MP3:

You can also try the following change: VIEW>OPTIONS>OTHER OPTIONS>ADVANCE OPTIONS>COMPATABILTY OPTIONS and change the Audio Format to AC3
