Did you do the following check:
If both MP3 files and JPEG files are recorded on a disc, set the MP3/JPEG setting in the PICTURE menu to the appropriate setting for the data to be read (“MP3” or “JPEG”). (A pg. 49)
Try MP3 first than if that does not work use JPEG.
Have you tried playing the disc in a different DVD player?

Posted - Aug 16 2009 : 12:13:48 Hello again:) It is a downloaded mp3 file and not corupted (I have tried other tracks - same result) I have software that I use to check;Ashampoo mp3 check and convert. The JVC player plays others just fine (as it does this project as long as I have a video first - then the music starts, at the beginning of the track, as soon as the AVI video is over.
When I burn the DVD PixPlay and play it in my PC its fine, but not in my JVC. Thanks, Dave

Try using a different mp3 file the file you are using may be corrupt. First, make sure that you are in fact using a mp3 file. Is this a "store" bought file or did you download or record this by yourself? Many times songs are called mp3 but are in fact a different format.
Does the DVD player play other CD \ DVD music files or discs correctly?
Have you tried playing the disc in another DVD player?
You say it plays correctly if you add a video(what format avi, mpeg etc) with music before your mp3 file?

Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 19:45:59 Bought some CD-R and DVD-R; same result, the music will not start at the beginning. If I add a video, with sound (6 secs.)then the music will start as soon as the video is over, no video, no music for a minute+, there must be something I am not setting correctly?
Thanks, Dave |

I notice these messages in the Operating Guide it may help you.
When both MP3 files and JPEG files are recorded to a disc, set “MP3/JPEG” to “MP3” to play MP3 files. (A pg. 49)
The system can only play MP3/JPEG files with the following file extensions; MP3: “.MP3”, “.Mp3”, “.mP3” and “.mp3” JPEG: “.jpg”, “.jpeg”, “.JPG”, “.JPEG” and any uppercase and lowercase combination (such as “.Jpg”)
It also recommendes mp3/jpeg be recorded on a CD-R not a DVD.

Posted - Aug 13 2009 : 14:07:49 Thanks for taking the time to research this; I also noted when I got the maual to get model number that it said DVD-R. Why would other DVD+R's work in my JVC (so too have DVD+RW's)? They have all had videos as well as JPEGS. I appreciate your time and help, I will get some DVD-R's and try it out. Dave |

This system can play back finalized DVD-Rs recorded in DVD VIDEO format. However, some discs may not be played back because of their disc characteristics or recording conditions.
This is a quote from the Operation Guide for this DVD player. See the following link for the entire guide:
http://www.retrevo.com/search/fv/c2a90cdd5d0ac4e2c2a1b613359c987c.pdf#page=1 It will take a minute for this download to take place so please wait and then turn to page 6 of 68.

Posted - Aug 13 2009 : 12:50:02 Hello again Jim, thanks for trying to help me out. My DVD player is a JVC model TH-M55. I only have 29 jpeg images added to this project so far as well as 1 mp3 of 4:58. The entire slideshow is 42.1 MB at this time. Other DVD's I have made play fine on my player? Thanks, Dave |

Could you please give me the manufacturer and model number of your DVD player.
Also can you tell me what is on the slideshow-- jpeg, avi, and the length and number of mp3 or wav files you are using. And finally what is the size of the entire slideshow.

Posted - Aug 13 2009 : 11:00:30 Hi Jim - Thanks for your post. I ran a laser lens cleaner through both PC and DVD player; then burned on to a new DVD+R, the result was the same, a delay of over a minute beforer the music starts? Dave |

Since you are using a DVD-RW disc I would recommend you use a CD|DVD cleaning repair kit on the disc and the DVD player.
Also you should erase the previous data before you record the new slideshow and sound tracks. If you record over a portion of the disc that is not properly finalized, it will cause skips or pauses.

What format did you choose when you selected File>Build Slideshow?
DVD format or DVD+Images?

Posted - Aug 11 2009 : 15:47:36 Hello again, there are no videos in this project. The only thing that shows up when I go to Edit>Properties>background music is the one song I added. When I play the DVD-RW in my PC the music plays immediately, as it does when I "preview"; however in my DVD player there is a 1 minute+ delay, then when the music does start, it's in the middle of the song?
Thanks for your support! Dave Stouse |

So visually you have videos and images in your project?
What are your settings under:
Edit>Slideshow Properties, "Background Music" tab?
