Dear Xequte Software User, All the best for the silly season from the Xequte and ImageEn teams, and here’s to a great 2015 for you and your dearest. My 2015 Christmas card features a shot from the USA road trip I mentioned in my last newsletter. With my family, I drove a 3000km (1800mi) journey from LA to San Francisco, through Yosemite, Death Valley, Southern Utah and finally to Las Vegas. The highlight was catching up with some old friends who lived on the same Japanese Island as us in the early nineties. Despite not seeing many of them in twenty years, once we got together it was like we had never been separated at all. Another favorite was Zion National Park, which must be one of the most visually spectacular parks in the world (and this is coming from a New Zealander which has its own fair share of great National Parks), and seeing a space shuttle. For the kids, it was Knott’s Berry Theme Park in LA, which they preferred even to Disneyland and Universal Studios. And I managed to drive on the right side of the road on all but one occasion :-o

» MailList King Crashes!?! If you are a MailList King user then you may have recently encountered the catastrophic error when creating messages. This is due to an update to Internet Explorer as part of Windows Update KB3003057. This has proven to be a huge headache for both us and our customers and we have fielded a lot of angry messages from frustrated customers. While we were quick to get a fix out for v13, fixes for older releases have taken much longer because so much dependent code has changed in the many subsequent releases. Fixes for v11 and v12 are now available, but it is not practical for us to update versions older than this. Unfortunately it is simply not possible for us to guarantee compatibility with all future versions of Windows and/or Internet Explorer. So if you purchased (a license or upgrade) after 1 July 2011 you can email us for a free fix. Options for users of v10 or older: 1. Status Quo: Uninstall and disable the offending update or Internet Explorer 11 as described at: http://www.xequte.com/userforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4494 2. Cheap Fix: No matter what the version, what the edition or what the year, you can upgrade to a fixed version for $28. You can choose from the v11.23 (old style UI) or v12.07 (new Microsoft Office style UI): http://www.xequte.com/cgi-bin/secure.asp?v=28&p=MLK_Quick_Fix 3. Latest and greatest: Upgrade to the latest release, v13.03, at: http://www.xequte.com/maillistking/upgrade.html If you have any queries or concerns, please email us.
» MailList King v13.03 Update MailList King allows you to manage and communicate with a mailing list from your own computer. Since our last newsletter there have been three updates.

MailList King: Fix the Casing of the Personalized Fields
If you are using
MailList King then naturally you will be personalizing your messages with the
recipient’s name using personalized fields, e.g. Hi #FirstName#
MailList King already
has the first and last name of almost all your contacts because it automatically
extracts it from their email address. But how do you cope with people who have
poorly capitalized their names, e.g. NIGEL or, ye gads, NIGel?
Simply use one of the
many field prefixes that MLK offers to fix the capitalization, e.g. Hi
#FirstName.TICASE#
Note: Use % rather than
# symbols. See the Help file for more detail.
