In
this Issue: Dear Xequte Software
User, Phew! This newsletter marks the end of a frenetic
few months for me! Not only were we working hard to get DVD
PixPlay v7 out the door, but we also took over the distribution of the ImageEn,
Imaging Library project. I can honestly say that I haven’t
worked this hard since the heady days of Smart Pix Manager v1.0 where I put in
seven days a week with a morning off on Christmas ;-) As you are
probably not a programmer yourself, you may wonder how our acquiring ImageEn
will benefit you. The answer is that ImageEn lies at the
heart of all our main products (excluding MailList King) providing us the power
to manipulate, process and display multimedia. Thus any
improvements that are made to ImageEn will flow through to our
products. Anyway, I
have much to report as we haven’t had the time to issue a newsletter since
March, so please read below for details on all your favorite
products… Regards Nigel

Creating Menus for your PC Slideshows With the
release of v7.0 the multiple
slideshow disk wizard now supports PC format allowing you to create slideshows
with menu in native DVD movie format (widest compatibility with DVD players), PC
format (best quality and functionality for computers) or a combined DVD + PC
format (for the best of both worlds). Creating a
multiple slideshow disk is simple, as it works with a selection of normal DVD
PixPlay projects. Select File > Burn Multiple Slideshows,
specify the name and format and then click “Add” to browse to projects that you
have created in the past or use video files. Each of the
projects/videos will appear as a separate item on the disk so you will need to
create a menu to allow your viewer to choose a slideshow to display.
80 pre-built menu templates are available for your use, or you can create
your own by supplying an image file. - MailList King:
Demographics of your mailing list Have you
ever looked wistfully at your mailing list and wondered what the most common
country is for your members? How many of them use web-based
email addresses? What proportion have the surname
Smith? If so,
then you will love the new graphing feature that is available in MLK
v10.30. It allows you to select any field in your mailing
list and instantly see (as a sorted list and a pie graph) the percentages of all
the possible values for this field (View an example). This feature is
available under View > Graphs and Statistics, Member Detail. - Smart Pix/MegaView:
IPTC Digital Image Field Support Smart Pix
and MegaView provide full support for IPTC digital image fields in JPEG and TIFF
images. IPTC fields are commonly used for storing
descriptions and keywords by such software as Photoshop and Picasa.
By storing the data within the images themselves it means that anyone who
receives the images can access the detail without needing to use the same
software. Support is
provided for IPTC in the following ways: - If you
select File > File Information, IPTC Fields tab, you can view and edit the
fields of JPEG and TIFF images - When
adding images to a Smart Pix Manager media library, any description and keywords
found in the IPTC fields will be automatically included for searching and
categorizing your images (File > Options, Media Library) - You can
also automatically store keywords and descriptions when you add/edit them to
images by enabling, "Store Descriptions in IPTC Fields" (Tools > Options,
Other, Advanced) or manually by selecting Library > Import and Export >
Save Descriptions to IPTC - Amaze: Displaying
IPTC Descriptions over your Photos When you
specify a description for your images in many applications (such as Picasa,
Smart Pix Manager and Photoshop) the data (IPTC) is embedded into the image file
itself allowing you to use it in other applications. With
Amaze you can automatically display any such description when an image is
displayed. To enable this: 1. In the Amaze folder under your Start menu
choose the "Configure Amaze" 2. Click the Settings tab 3. In the Slideshow Captions box choose the
"Description" option
