I have spent two weeks trying to set up and send with MailKing v.12.06
I have tried every combination of settings that I know.
I use both a wi-fi connection and a Virgin dongle Both work with my email account using Eudora
Depending on the factors that I use I get difference error messages.
Will someone please send the SMTP parameters to me?
I have used Mail King for a number of years and had no problems until recently. |

Hi
What changed (in your system/settings/network) between when MLK worked correctly and when it did not?
Have you specified precisely the same settings in MLK as in Eudora?

The problem arose with the change from the older version to the version with the new MS? skin. Moreover, Eudora has the facility to change the SSL etc settings which Mail King apparently does not.
I have screen shots if you need them and tell me how to attach them to this request.
I initially thought that using 3G and 4G was the problem; however, I yesterday tried the same settings on Wi-Fi with the same result. I had to resort to sending out several thousand press releases as bcc on Eudora as a work around which does not meet my ethical purpose to send individually addressed media releases. |

Hi
What version were you using previously. There has been no change in SSL functionality for many versions, so I can't see why it should be failing.
You can change your SSL functionality by: 1. Select File > Options 2. Select "Database" tab 3. Click the "Advanced Database Options" button 4. Click the "Extra Advanced Options" button 5. Change the drop down selector to "Filter" 6. Specify SSL

Previous Edition. MK v10.41R Business Edition purchased 11-0605
I have followed your latest instructions and used the SSL settings but MK still does not work.
Why do you not give me the equivalent MK procedure and format for setup that I use for my email account for which I sent you a screen shot. That has worked for several years without a problem.
I sent out 3,500 media releases yesterday using bcc batches on Eudora without a single hitch (except that it took me all day to do it). |

Hi
The equivalent setting in MLK for TLS would be SSLMethod=4. But that did not exist in v10.41, which always used SSLMethod=2.

I followed your instructions in MLK and it wiped out SSL in Eudora. I now get an error message each time I try to use Eudora: Invalid SSL Certificate.
What next? |

Hi
MLK cannot affect the settings of Eudora, it's just not possible.
It may have triggered some block in your anti-virus software or firewall. Please check the logs and settings of those.

I have done some more research and find that the problem occurred coincident with the update (from memory .06?) a few weeks ago which appears to be non-compatible with my setup.
"MLK cannot affect the settings of Eudora, it's just not possible"
A gave you that information to show you what did work.
Since I made the SSL changes you recommended, both MLK Eudora and Outlook do not send. My time-sensitive mailing is completely out of business. Last week I used Eudora with bcc to overcome the problem. The recommended changes to MLK now prevent me from even using bcc/Eudora.
I can now only send single email messages by using the online Fastmail server.
The following URL connects to the Fastmail server and provides all their settings.
https://www.fastmail.fm/help/remote_email_access_server_names_and_ports.html?MLS=MB-*&u=6b0e41b0&SMB-CF=11132237
I see that MLK has been integrated in some way with Outlook which could be part of the problem and has now even stopped me sending by Outlook. (Could this be more reverse engineering?)
I could send mailings with:
Eudora Outlook Mailking
Since I made the changes to SSL that you suggested I can send nothing at the local level.
My current impression is that the recent MLK upgrade/updates contained some alteration to settings to accommodate integration with MS Outlook or other apps which have completely fouled up my mailing system. The instructions that I received to correct the problem only exacerbated the issues.
Without further delay, please have a complete investigation made of the most recent MLK upgrade/updates to find out and correct the problems that I am experiencing.
MLK integration or combination with Outlook appears to have alienated older email programs like Eudora. I have several million correspondence files indexed and referenced on Eudora which I am not about to reindex to accommodate other people's needs and commercial expedience.
I am an octogenarian professor still working a full day. I designed and marketed one of the first desktop publishing systems (Fotospectrum) in a consort with Wang (MIT) 1973 and Monotype (UK). It was widely used by NY publishers at that time.
My CV is at http://contracabal.us
I am not a tyro who can be screwed over. I have spent the last few weeks on these problems, now please put somebody that knows what is wrong with the MLK software to provide me with a work around so that I can get back to work. I may be old but I am not stupid so stop patronizing me.

Hi Paul
I appreciate your frustration, and am certainly not trying to railroad you, but MLK does not integrate with Eudora, excluding address book reading and simple MAPI. This means that it cannot directly change the configuration of Eudora in any way.
There has been no change to SSL functionality in MLK since v9.20. Though in v10 we did surface the setting that allowed the SSL mode to be changed (previously a hidden option). All history is available at:
www.xequte.com/maillistking/changes.html
If changing the SSL setting in MLK stopped Eudora from sending, then the only reasonable conclusion is that sending via MLK caused the firewall/router/mail server from blocking further connections from your system, or some other incompatiblity was introduced.
However if MLK was causing such a failure we would have expected to hear of this well before now. There are no open reports of SSL problems.
