Here's the error message that I received when trying to send a test email via using MLK's Internal SMTP Server.

Hi

10060 is a server connect timeout, i.e. MLK is unable to connect to the destination server and gives up.

The cause is most likely one of the following:

- ISP: Many ISP's block port 25 to prevent the user of local mail servers
- Firewall: Ensure that your firewall does not block port 25 or 53. If it is a program based firewall ensure that MLK is a permitted application
- Router: Many routers have built-in firewalls. Ensure that it does not block port 25 or 53.
- Anti-Virus Software: Some products such as Norton actually detect programs sending mail and intercept them. Try disabling the worm-blocking option

Hi

Have you checked whether your ISP blocks port 25?

For the specified domain you can put something like:

mail.YOURDOMAIN.COM

(if you have your own domain).

Please do a test to at least ten different recipients of different domains (including test@xequte.com and test@xecute.com) and send me your log file again.

Okay, here's the thing. If send it to our school domain @uwstout.edu then it does not work but if I test sending it to @yahoo.com then it works fine. So, what does this mean?

Hi

When you say they are not working; what error message do you get?

Some destination servers may block messages that it flags as being Spam, which may occur if they recognize the sending as originating from a local mail server (such as MLK's SMTP server).

So it is important that if you are using the SMTP Server that you specify the option to automatically resend to any recipients that fail, and specify that the last sending attempt should be via normal SMTP or Outlook.

Please email me the log file for the sending task:

1. Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I.
2. Check the box to display your "Sending Logs" folder and click "OK"
3. In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name. Find the files of the relevant date and send them to me
