We are using AmazonSES with MLK v.11 (Business). We have had no trouble sending mail, and the return address we are using is an Amazon-verified address. However, we are not being notified of bounced email, which notification is essential to our business.
We have read the various posts on the Amazon forum and note that other people seem to have had the same problem. We have tried sending a single test email with a deliberately-false return address, but to no avail. Can anyone assist, please? Thankyou. |

Hi
According to the SES documentation the bounces should be forwarded to the sender email address.
Are you using MLK's SES implementation or are you using SMTP to send directly to Amazon's SMTP servers (in MLK)?

Hello Nigel Problem solved, thankyou. For the benefit of others who might experience the same problem, here is what we found (note that we are using MLK's SES implementation):
1. It appears that some mail servers block receipt of the undeliverable advice from Amazon. This was the case with our setup. To test this, we sent an email (with a non-existent 'To:' address) from two Amazon-verified email addresses (each hosted by a different ISP): in one case, the undeliverable advice was received, in the other case, it was not.
2. The undeliverable advice is always sent to the 'From:' address (which will always be a Amazon-verified address). It is NOT necessary to specify a 'Return to:' address or 'Reply Path:' in the outgoing email in order to receive an undeliverable advice.
3. Undeliverable advices arrive into Inbox, almost immediately after the (incorrectly-addressed) email has been 'sent'.
------------
I hope this may be of assistance to other users. Thanks again, Nigel.
