Has anyone had any success in setting up MLK's SMTP Server? I've set my Norton firewall to allow SMPT and DNS ports but all I get is a time-out when I try to send a test email. My router is a D-Link DSL-G604T.

I'm using MLK v.9

Cheers

Gerry

Hi Gerry

Have you checked whether your ISP blocks port 25?

Hi Nigel

Thanks for your message. My ISP is Force9, part of Plusnet, and it isn't on your list of ISPs blocking port 25.

At www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx I found a test for port 25.
Press Start/Run and enter: telnet://[emailserver]:25
where [emailserver] is the address of any external e-mail server

I entered telnet://relay.force9.net:25 and got this:
220 relay.force9.net ESMPT Exim Tue, 10 Nov 2009 15:36:18 +0000
I presume that means that it isn't blocking port 25, or does it!

Regards

Gerry

Hi Gerry

It is a conclusive test, but it does mean that your ISP is not doing a simple block of port 25.

Please do a test sending to at least ten recipients of different domains and forward me the log file for the sending task:

1. Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I.
2. Check the box to display your database folder and click "OK"
3. Browse to the subfolder named "SendLogs"
4. In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name. Find the files of the relevant date and send them to me
