Hi
Just recently purchased PixPlay and have been playing around with the slideshows using pictures. All has worked well and I have created some resonable slide shows. I now want to add videos and I have converted a home video into MPEG (as recommended) and added it to a slide show. Although the slide show information says the video is on there and is 28 minutes long, it only shows a black screen for a couple of seconds when I try to previw it. The video plays back fine on Windows Media Player. Any ideas on why it doesn't play back in PixPlay? |

DVD PixPlay uses an encoding library for video conversion, but standard windows drivers for preview. That means that there are some formats that it has no problem converting but for which it cannot display a preview because a driver cannot be accessed.
For some MPEG formats you will need to download the requisite drivers if you want to see a preview.
Windows does not include a driver for MJpeg but you can download one from:
www.mainconcept.com or www.morgan-multimedia.com or www.pegasusimaging.com
Of course, not being able to preview the video file won't prevent you from creating a slideshow and you can see the slideshow before burning it by clicking the "Test" button in the Create Disk wizard.

Hi
If you select File > Burn Slideshow Disk and then the "Test" button, does it play there?

Hi Nigel
Thanks to Jim's reply, I can say 'yes'....it does play the video. The system goes through the setting up process, but it does play.
It is a pain not having the preview, but the system works.
I just need to find out now why the music tracks aren't copying with the video!!!!

Presently DVD PixPlay can only use the sound track of the videos in a slideshow if there are no images (except after the final video). So you will need to do as follows:
Remove any title pages and images from your project (or move all of the videos to the start of the slideshow using the function Edit>Advanced>Move Videos to Start)
Select Edit>Slideshow Properties on the menu and choose the "Background Music" tab
Choose the option to "Maintain the soundtrack of the video files" (if the option is disabled then there are images or title pages placed before the videos in your project).
Optional: If you have images at the end of your slideshow, then you can choose some music for them (i.e. that plays after the videos have completed)

On a previous slideshow build I was successful in extracting the sound from my videos and inserting it in the appropriate place in the background music. You may need to shorten some of the existing music files to accommodate proper insertion. However on my latest show which is still in progress, the video sound seems to play, in preview, over the added soundtrack and the video in question is not at the beginning or end of the show. |
