Using DVDpixlay V4.01 with files from new camera - MOV files. After successfully converting to MPEG format & imported they showed only as icons with no thumbnail picture or preview available. I saved the project to a slideshow and was pleased that it played OK but on opening the project again today I find all movie viles are now showing the ? icon as are all of the movie files when attempting to import more (from 'My video' folder where icons seem unchanged) Any suggestions as to what may have happened?
thanks

DVD PixPlay does not store your image files, only links to their locations on your computer. If you are seeing "missing file" thumbnails then:
1. Your images were added from a CD/DVD and it is no longer in your CD drive

2 You linked directly to images on a digital camera (rather than acquiring them to your computer) and the camera is not connected

3. You have deleted the images or moved them to a new location

Thanks for prompt reply but none of the 3 reasons seems to apply. I downloaded a codec, hoping this may make the viewing of the videos available on preview. Could this have had any effect on the file changes? This is the only change that I can recall happening between closing and re-booting.

Hi Bev

Does PixPlay actually think the files are there? I.e. if you select Edit>Other>Check for Missing Files, does it report those MPEGs as missing?

It's possible that since installing the codec PixPlay is unable to generate thumbnails for the MPEGs due to something being messed up in Windows.

Hi Nigel & Jim

It seems that all files are accessible so I will go ahead using the file numbers to insert where I want them and then burn disk - a birhtday present for my great grandson!
One never ceases learning!

thanks again

Please download the MCI Tester, from this link:

Reset the Windows Player to the defaults.
