When I make a slide show and create a title page or add text to an image- the program gives this image its own extender -.dpg That's fine when the story is burned to a VCD or DVD it all runs in the computer or DVD player exactly as it should, the show running as a movie fixed beginning to end.
If a presenter however wants to stop, slide by slide to discuss- as he would in a Power Point presentation Then I make an image format disc , and run in a PC each image will come on command from the left/right arrow- including all the title pages and images with text added.
However if run in a standard DVD player the titles and images with text do not show because they are not jpeg's- fair enough.
So I thought if the titles are to appear I would have to take a screen shot of each item that is .dpg run it in an image editor[Paint Shop] and save it as .JPG -then replace each .dpg with a .jpg. A disk burned like this - still runs OK in a PC But the DVD player still does not recognise the new jpegs. Why is that?
It is true that that hovering over any image in a show in the image detail comes up as JPG.,but still a stand alone DVD player whilst playing all the 'regular' images does not play title pages or images with text added. Are there for example different types/grades of JPEG?
If you burn the disc as COMBINED DVD AND IMAGE FORMAT" on step 2 of the Burn Wizard, does it work? Most DVD players will only play the file as a video and ignore the images.
Thank you Jim Burning as a combi is a thought- when next I have a session will give it a try. The DVD player I use for my shows does know JPEGS. As explained in the original post- in the Image mode it will show straight JPEGS but ignores the 'Dpeg' images of title pages and images with caption added. - it also does not know the Jpegs of those frames when converted in Paint shop or Irfanview- although they show as Jpegs. The show with all images play fine in a PC however. Footnote The DVD player is a cheapo Phillips purchased for £20[$40] from ASDA[Walmart to you] but it is far more versatile in what it read than some more sophisticated devices such as my top of the range Sony PVR
Check the disk that you created. There should be no .dpg files on it from your title pages or images with text because they will have been converted to .jpegs.
