As you are referring to Preview- this likelike to be lack of RAM memory. A Memory upgrade may be the answer. Whenb you Burn th disk apply the quality rules as suggested.
When previewing the slideshow it need to load, transition and show image motion for each image as it is displayed. If you are using very large camera images and/or your PC is not very fast/lacking RAM then the output can be a bit choppy.
When the slideshow is burned to disk, all this hard work is done at the time of burning, so it should look good whenever it is played.
In your case 2GB is plenty, so presumably your images are very large.
