Nigel, I've been happy with MLK and will probably upgrade anyway, but can you tell me whether V7 will let me delete custom fields from the database?
Right now my database contains custom fields I created accidentally when I was trying to figure out how underscores in field names were handled so I would like to be able to delete the unwanted fields without having to recreate the whole database (and therefore lose the history).
Apologies if this is documented in the list of enhancements in V7, but I loked and couldn't find it.

Hi Adrian
No, that is not supported at this time, because later we will move to an improved database structure which will improve custom field management and searching.
If you simply want to delete EVERY custom field of EVERY user, let me know. You can do that quite easily with SQL.

Thanks, yes that would do as a workaround because I could export all the custom field values and then reimport the ones whose values I wanted to preserve.
But how can I use SQL? I thought that required the Business version of MLK. I have Professional which will become Personal when and if I upgrade to V7.

You can do it with the database utility, but firstly let me say that you should BACK UP your database before doing this.
It is very easy to delete an entire database with SQL.
i) Download the Database Utility from http://www.xequte.com/download/dbsys330.exe ii) Install and Run it. iii) Select File>new SQL Query iv) Specify the folder containing your database v) Type:
UPDATE MLK_MAIN SET CUSTOMFIELDS=NULL
vi) Click Run SQL
