We started having problems again (10051 winsock error) when sending out our monthly newsletter. Our ISP was bought out by another company and we believe they are blocking port 25 when used by other SMTP email servers.
I read that sometimes port 587 can be used instead. Can Mail List King use port 587? We are running v5.34. The v5.34 does't have a Hidden_Options.ini file that, I suppose, may offer the option of specifying a port other than 25?

http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
smtp 25/tcp Simple Mail Transfer
smtp 25/udp Simple Mail Transfer

submission 587/tcp Submission
submission 587/udp Submission

Thanks for any help we can get on this!

Hi

You can use any port when sending via SMTP to a mail server (assuming the server supports that port). You can specify it under View>Options, Sending.

However an SMTP Server (such as the one in MLK) can only use port 25 to communicate with other SMTP Servers (mail server to mail server communication is always on port 25, which is why ISP's like to block it).
