Trying to use MLK Pro v5.34 with its own SMTP engine over a DIAL UP connection. When emailing to any email address that is within the dialup ISP's DNS server realm (ie. a domain name email address that is hosted by this ISP) the email is accepted. When emailing to a Hotmail, GMail or Yahoo (and similar) accounts the connection is refused. For example in the log file - "Process status for stuart@networld.com: Error #10051 (10051)." We have tried changing the TCPIP settings for the dialup connection to no avail. Can Mail List King Pro be used over a dialup connection?
The server can be used with a dial up connnection, but you'll need to ensure that you don't try to send too many messages at once or you will get lots of timeouts. Under View>Options, Sending, Settings set the timeout to something long like 240 seconds and the number of threads less than 3.
However in your case it may be that Hotmail are their brethren are blocking your connection because they recognize it as being as originating from a local mail server.
It is important that if you are using the SMTP Server that you specify the option to automatically resend to any recipients that fail, and specify that the last sending attempt should be via normal SMTP.
We have not tried sending out our monthly email newsletter via the dialup before. I don't know how feasible it is to use a dialup connection for 40,000 emails - may take us a couple of days!!!
The problem was that the ISP for the dialup connection is blocking it!! We used another ISP's dialup connection from someone else in the office and it sent the emails without any problem.
I called the ISP who is blocking us and the tech and salesperson deny that they are doing anything to block it...
