Mangal Dosh Puja is a Hindu ritual performed to appease the planet Mars (Mangal) and mitigate the negative effects of its placement in one's birth chart. Ujjain, a city in Madhya Pradesh, India, is considered a sacred site for performing Mangal Dosh Puja.

The Mangal Dosh Puja in Ujjain is usually performed at the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The puja is conducted by experienced priests who chant Vedic mantras and perform various rituals to please Lord Shiva and seek his blessings to pacify the malefic effects of Mars.

The process of Mangal Dosh Puja typically involves the following steps:

Sankalp: The puja begins with an oath-taking ceremony in which the devotee declares his/her intention to perform the puja and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Abhishekam: The idol of Lord Shiva is bathed with holy water, milk, honey, and other sacred substances while chanting mantras.

Archana: The priest offers flowers, fruits, and other offerings to Lord Shiva while reciting his 108 names.

Homa: A sacred fire ritual is performed while chanting mantras to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Puja to Mangal: The priest performs special puja to Mangal, the planet Mars, to mitigate its malefic effects.

Navagraha Puja: A puja is also performed to all the nine planets to seek their blessings and mitigate any negative effects.

Aarti: The puja concludes with the offering of aarti, a devotional song, to Lord Shiva.
