Posted - Dec 08 2008 : 02:07:47 On the same day that I installed Maillist King Personal 8.01, the standard ribbon disappeared from incoming emails in Outlook 2007.
It's wierd. I still have an Add-Ins tab, but none of the others (Message, Insert, etc). The ribbon on outgoing emails is complete. I have wandered round the menu's but can't find a setting to change it.
It could easily be unrelated to MLK, but I didn't deliberately change anything and the MLK install is the only unusual event I can think of. Have you have encountered this problem? |

Are you using MailList King? This forum is for MailList King users.
I don't think it is possible in Outlook 2007 to revert to the Outlook 2003 toolbar...

howard: >>Only the first option was selected. When I selected the second, “In Message and Contact Window” >>and restarted Outlook, the ribbon came back.
Fixed - as always, thanks for the quick response.

Posted - Dec 14 2008 : 12:49:02 Hi Howard
Please send me a screen shot of the list of items in your Trust Center.
(To create a screenshot display the program with the problem visible then select PrintScreen (or PrtScr) on the top of your keyboard. Using Microsoft Word or an image editor such as Paint, select Paste. Save the file, if possible as a JPEG if you are using an image editor and send it to us)

Posted - Dec 14 2008 : 12:31:13 Nigel,
I have say then I'm #2 to experience this problem. I have a PC with XP Pro Version 2002 SP3 with Office 2007 SP1.
If I start Outlook in safe mode, the ribbon functions properly in the received (incoming) email.
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
When I go to Tools > Trust Center > Add-Ins and disable the MLK Mail List Management Software Management add-in, the ribbon in the incoming email comes backs and appears to be functioning properly.
I too have not added any add-ins and Outlook was functioning with the old version.
I guess I'm just lucky.

Posted - Dec 09 2008 : 00:22:42 Hi David
It does sound like an issue caused by an add-in such as MLK, but we haven't had any other reports of it.
Can you please send me a screenshot of exactly what you are seeing, plus of all of the items in the Trust Center. It is possible there is some sort of conflict.

Posted - Dec 08 2008 : 03:57:13 No it isn't minimised. The ribbon is full height, but only has one tab (Add-Ins). It has two buttons - Toolbar Commands and Custom Toolbars. When you minimise you just get the tab heading 'Add-Ins'. It is the other tabs that are missing (Message, Insert, etc).
Trust Center includes Maillist King (MLKOtbr.dll). I considered removing this temporarily via the option to manage add-ins, but wasn't sure whether it would cause some other harm.
Thanks David. |

Posted - Dec 08 2008 : 02:38:31 Hi
Firstly, please check whether it has been minimized:
http://www.groovypost.com/forum/microsoft-office/outlook-2007-toolbar-disappeared-t95518.html
Also try:
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=304705&forumid=1
If these do not resolve it, please go to Tools > Trust Center and click Add-ins.
What is listed under there?
