Posted - Jun 27 2008 : 01:03:50 Suppose I have a mailing list with 100 members. I then create a message and schedule it for delivery in a week. If during the week 40 more people join the list will they receive the message? Or will the message be delivered only to the people on the list at the time the message was created?
If it's the later; is there a way to future deliver a message to all the members who are on the list when the message is sent?

Posted - Dec 11 2008 : 13:09:41 FYI. In v8.02 MLK (optionally) will not generate the sending list for a scheduled sending until the sending starts. So any addresses added to the group in the meantime will be included.

Posted - Jul 23 2008 : 01:25:03 Nigel I hope this gets addressed. This is an issuew for me too. (Yes I knwo I started this thread, but Perter brought up a point I didn't even think of the doc wating to be sent. We need to be able to modify while it is in a pending to be sent state as well as have new joins receive the mailing. This is a MUST have for me.

Posted - Jul 23 2008 : 01:16:38 Yes it would be a useful facility. I have commented in the survey topic about the lack of ability to edit the Newsletter properly in the light amendements needed after a test send. And I have met this issue too, which together are annoying; with my shedule running something like this:
1) Prepare Newsletter and send test mailing. 2) Schedule for later sending whilst waiting for comments on the test mailshot 3) Note amendments needed and make up new revised Newsletter because we cannot amend the existing one properly once it has been scheduled for send. 4) Delete existing scheduled mailshot 5) Note new subscribers just added, so start yet again 6) Send Newsletter quickly before any new subscribers are added; we now at least have a cut off point and know which subscribers have received the Newsletter and new ones can be made into another temporary list to be sent out in say a weeks time. 7) Make up yet another copy of the same Newsletter for the latest subscibers; this time because although under the advanced button, we have the ability to add recipients to a completed task - a strange option if the task is completed?? - and then send to those who did not receive the original, we can now only add their email addresses -no first name to personalise!
MLK has many good points, but having now used it "for real" I can only hope the feedback from the survey will help Nigel address all these usability issues.

Posted - Jun 27 2008 : 07:13:45 Please make this a feature request for a future version of the software.
I would like to be able a messages to be sent in the future and have those messages sent to everyone who is on the list at the time the message is sent, not created. |

Posted - Jun 27 2008 : 01:14:36 Hi Douggg
For a number of reasons (some technical, some by design) addresses added to a group after a messages is sent are not automatically included in any scheduled messages.
I can see arguments on both sides regarding this point, but I think for a later version there should at least be an option to automatically add any new members to a group to scheduled messages for that group.
