Posted - Jun 12 2008 : 19:35:14 If I'm sending via my ISP's SMTP server, and my confirmation email says that 90% of the emails were sent successfully, shouldn't the other 10% be counted against the individual users as failed attempts? In other words, I don't see the failed attempts incrementing in the database.
When I get an email back from the recipient's server indicating a failed delivery, it increments the number - this seems to be working fine; just not on the failed 'sends' via smtp.

Posted - Jun 13 2008 : 16:02:18 Hi Ian
Sorry Ian, i misread your message, i thought you were sending via MLK's Internal Server.
Failed sends between MLK and your ISP's mail server, generally indicate a connection error rather than a bad email address. Only a small percentage of mail servers validate the email address at the time they receive a message from a mail client (usually they accept all email addresses and send a failure report email for the bad ones).

Posted - Jun 13 2008 : 10:09:15 I'm confused Nigel - I don't have the same menus as you.
I'm using 7.12R. Under View --> Options, I have 'sending mail'. Under 'sending mail', there are two setting buttons for the sending method, but neither lead to message counts.
Again, under View --> Options --> Other Sending Options, I still don't see message count options.
Thanks.

Under View>Options, Sending, Settings, what is your setting for:
Update undeliverable message counts for members?
