Are new users alway given the allowed to send status? (Even if in options Member sending sending is not enabled.)
I found the email command, DisableMemberSending <Group Name>
Is there a way to reverse it? When a new member is added they do not have the member can send box enabled?

I was just thinking ahead. (I'm still learning the program and tweaking it for my needs). I now realize you are right. I was thinking for RAC the member needed to have send priviliges, I now realize this is NOT the case.
RAC addresses are specified elsewhere and this has no effect on RAC. |

Hi Douggg
I appreciate that the "User Can Send" flag is checked by default for new members, but you really don't need to worry about the status of that setting if the member sending option is disabled.

This might be an easter egg/undocumented feature.
When I created the group I selected "Do not Allow Members to Send to this Group."
My thought was in selecting this members would not receive the Can send flag would be left un checked.
That wasn't happening.
As new users were being added the "Members Can Send" box was checked.
I then checked the Options/Members Sending page, it was grayed out. (Allow group members to send to list was not checked.) And looking on the grayed out page "Sending Rights" Do not Allow members to send was checekd.
I'm thinking that eventhough the page is grayed out, users are still receiving sending rights.
So I check the box at the top of the page, Allow Group Members to Send to the Mailing List (which un-gray the entire page, and make changes to settings).
I then un-checked the "Do not allow members to send to the list until accepted"
And then unchecked Allow group members to send to the mailing list (which will grayed out the entire page again).
After doing this, I found new members were not receiving the Members Can Send flag.
It appears settings on a grayed out page make a difference.

I'm not quite following your intentions here.
The users' Send Status has no purpose unless you have enabled the option for members to send to your mailing list.

The entire Member Sending page is grayed out (the check mark for the page is not checked). I do see the "Do not allow members to send to the list until accepted" is not checekd.
I’ll try the following, check the box at the top of the page, (which un-gray the entire page, allowing me to make changes). Checked the "Do not allow members to send to the list until accepted" and then unchecked the page, (which will gray out the page again).

I should have mentioned in Edit <Group Name> I have the "Do not allow members to send messages to this group" checked.
I thought this was the default to un-check the sending option for anyone who joins. I'm wrong.
