Posted - Apr 29 2008 : 05:47:42 Nigel, I now have about 2.1 million email addresses in MLK and it is very very slow to load the complete list and it seems to have slowed down on sending--i send them 1 at a time and it used to take about 5 days-now it is taking about 10 days (T1 connection)--is there a better way to database this many email addresses so MLK is more efficient? Also searching the DB takes a long time and most other functions have slowed down. Any ideas or suggestions or upgrade?

Those are the recommended settings for a large database, but with 2 million entries a certain amount of slowness would not be unusual. You can also go into View>Options, Other, Advanced and enable:
"Disable all logging of history, message delivery and statistics"
Which can really improve processing speeds (e.g. generating sending lists, but not searching/displaying addresses or sending messages).
The question then is why it is slower now than previously. Clearly something must have changed on the system or network if smaller messages are taking longer than larger ones. Usually some changes on the network would be the cause, but I doubt that would be the case with a T1 connection.
Have you reviewed the sending logs? Are you getting a lot more timeouts or failed deliveries than previously?

DB sharing settings
ticked--do not cache the entire database set at 500 Records ticked--disable automatic searching when changing modes or selecting groups
all others un-ticked
the sending settings have not been changed the messages are not larger--actually i am now sending "lighter" messages i have a dedicated T1 connection and server for sending
i noticed there are several sizable dblogs in "MailList King\DB\Archive" 145,265KB is the largest----would these effect the speed of the program?

Regarding database speed, what are your "DB Sharing and Performance" settings under View>Options, Other?
Regarding send speed, something must have changed with your messages or network: - Are your messages larger? E.g. contain more/larger attachments or embedded images? - Have you changed your sending method or settings (View>Options, Sending) - Has your network up-speed changed, or is being used up elsewhere (e.g. by a busy web server)
Please also confirm your MLK version.
