I've noticed a problem with the sending count that MLK shows. When we click on Send Email, MLK shows some important information just below the BCC field. It shows:

"Details: 91 Unique Recipients, 1 Recip. per E-mail, 91 E-mails"

Now this is very helpful and very important information because it tells us how many emails are going to be sent out. But what these figures do not take into account are the members who have been set to Vacation Mode=ON, meaning they will NOT receive emails.

This problem creates a very "uncertain" situation for us because we often use the Vacation Mode to quickly (but temporarily) block one or more members from receiving a particular email. For example, just last night we sent out an email to everyone in a certain group about a surprise party that was being planned for someone in the group, but we didn't want the person who we are planning the party for to receive the email, obviously! So we changed their Vacation Mode to ON and sent the announcement out to everyone but that person.

The very confusing part is that the total number of members in the group shows 91 (which is correct), but the sending details also showed that 91 people will be receiving the email, even though 1 person will actually NOT be getting it. In this particular case, this total should say 90.

These sending counts should be adjusted to reflect the number of actual recipients rather than just the total number of members in the group. The same is true for the summary email that MLK sends to us after every email campaign which shows the total number of emails sent out. That also currently does not subtract any members blocked by vacation mode from the group total, but it should.

This would be a HUGE help for us and boost our confidence before sending out emails because we would be absolutely certain that any blocked members will in fact NOT get emails we don't want them to get.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil

For performance reasons (much more important when the number of recipients number in the hundreds of thousands), MLK does not generate the sending list until you click the Send button. As you will have noticed the estimate is based solely on the current record count without taking exceptions (excluded addresses and vacations) into account.

Once you do click the Send button the list is generated and the final count is used. In your example, if you view the Sending Tasks dialog it should no longer show 91 recipients, but rather 90. The same is true of the summary, so if you are seeing 91 recipients please check the sending log to confirm.

Also FYI:
1. You don't need to set vacation status to temporary block sending to a recipient. On the sending dialog click the "To..." button and add them to the excluded addresses list
2. If you click the Preview button you will view all recipients and the address will show as blocked there
