Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 I recently noticed that there are two dates associated with each record in my list: insertion date and record date. Up 'til then, I thought that insertion date covered everything. It seems that sometimes the record date is older than the insertion date.
Some of the list processing functions we perform require that I know the date that the list member was first added to the list. So I've got two questions:
1. What is the difference between "insertion date" and "record date"?
2. If the record date is the date on which the list member was first added, is there some way I can report it instead of insertion date?
I've checked the help files and have searched the forum, but have not found much info.
Thanks,
eric |

Posted - Feb 09 2007 : 02:33:37 Hi Ian
That is correct, we did that to improve the performance, but on reflection it shouldn't really work that way when only one group is exported. I will address that one for a coming update.

Posted - Feb 08 2007 : 10:37:43 I'm using v6.26 and noticed that when I export data for a single group (there are several groups to the database), only the original member's insertion date is exported, not the date related to the specific group. Is this behaviour typical, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep an eyeball out for it in the next release. Thanks again for considering it.

Ah. Thanks. Guess we've just missed it...

I understand the ability to export the insertion date, which has been sufficient up 'til now. But we've done a good deal of resegmenting our list and changing groups around. Upshot: Insertion dates aren't really an accurate way to judge how long someone's been in our list.
Hence the original question: is there any way to export record dates?
Thanks again,
eric

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 Nigel,
Thanks for the information. Silly question: has it always been done that way? I've only just noticed it since version 6.0, though I grant that I wasn't paying hugely close attention before.
I'd like to be able to export the record date when we export lists (I use the dates to track some stuff in another system). Is this possible?
Thanks,
eric

For each member there is a record date, which is the date that they were first added to the database.
For each group that the member belongs to there is an insertion date, that is, when they subscribed to that group.
In what way do you want to "report" the date?
