Flight cancellations are indeed scary and frustrating depending on the circumstances in which they occur. However, sometimes you just have to cancel your flight, no matter how big your travel plans are. When it comes to Ryanair cancellation policy, the Dublin-based airline is quite good with its flight cancellations and offers the best to passengers in such unavoidable situations. If you booked your flight tickets with Ryanair and now, for whatever reason, you want to cancel them, here's what you need to know about Ryanair's cancellation policy.
Passengers are not allowed to cancel the flight, but the airline offers Ryan Air flight changes where passengers can change the flight date, time and destination. A certain exception applies when you cancel a Ryanair flight –
Cancellation due to flight delay – Unless your flight is delayed by 5 hours or more, you are supposed to cancel the flight and claim the unused portion of the plane ticket as a refund.
Bereavement – The airline offers cancellation for bereavement reasons (must be an immediate family member) where passengers must request flight cancellation at least 4 weeks before scheduled departure.
Other reasons – Passengers/co-passengers may cancel the flight in case of serious illness.
Timing – In cases where cancellation of the reservation is not permitted, passengers can change the flight up to 2.5 hours before the scheduled departure.
Schedule Change – If there is a schedule change of 5 hours or more, you have the option to choose another flight or cancel/refund the booking without paying RyanAir cancellation fees.
Ryanair 24-hour cancellation policy
For flights to/from Canada and the United States, passengers have the option to cancel the flight and request a full refund, provided:
• The planned departure must be booked at least 7 days in advance.
• The reservation includes a flight operated and marketed by RyanAir.
• Ryanair's 24-hour cancellation policy would not apply to any codeshare or interline flight segment of the booking.
• 24-hour cancellation does not apply to group or award bookings, in accordance with RyanAir's cancellation policy.
• Note: If canceled within 24 hours, passengers can expect a refund within 7-10 business days to the original payment method.
