I have been a fan of DVD PixPlay since v. 2 or 3, and have enjoyed the upgrades you've produced. However, I'm very disappointed that you haven't yet dealt with the issue of being able to play the soundtrack that camera videos produce. I've used a competitor's program with not quite as many nice features as DVD PixPlay but that easily integrates still and video clips with music that my viewers greatly enjoyed. Pushing all the videos to one end is a no-go solution. Given that most new point-and-shoot cameras now produce HD videos it seems your program is losing touch with the needs of us camera hobbyists. Your program has lacked this feature from the start. It should be a first priority to solve. When will you? |

We have been working on a limited solution to the video soundtrack issue which should be available in the next release. This will work by sequencing videos so is only supported for DVD and DVD + PC format slideshows. This should address the requirements of 90% of users.

Having been involved in computer programming since 1968 I would never underestimate the time and effort required to achieve a satisfactory solution for a complicated problem. What confused me, however, is that when I used the Preview feature to examine my slide show of mixed stills and videos, the videos and their sounds were perfectly integrated with the mpegs. There are obviously some difficult issues of going from the preview function to the DVD that you need to settle. I'm just encouraging you to do so since DVDPixPlay is otherwise such a great program. I should have started my gripe by saying "Thanks for a fantastic job, but ..."
By the way, I have been using the Multiple Slideshow disk feature to create my show. As you know it's awkward, and editing the order of things can become very cumbersome, such as moving a still shot from the end of one set to the beginning of another when there is a video between them. I am less than halfway through my show and already have 9 projects. It's taking me probably twice as long as when I arranged the same material as one project.
Hugh, thanks for your comments. The videos in my current show all contain music with either dancing or musicians as video. The synchronization between picture and sound has to be perfect so I think I'd go crazy trying to do this for 10 video segments ;-} . |

Posted - Mar 01 2010 : 07:46:50 I have successfully integrated videos with sound into my slide shows where I want by:
1. Use your video editor to extract the audio file, then re-record it as an MP3 file.
2. Insert the "soundless" video file in the proper sequence using "Add Images"
3. Add the "new" mp3 file in the proper time slot via the "Music" and "Add Sound Files" options.
It may take a bit of fiddling (i.e. shortening a preceding track in order to fit it in properly) - admittedly not the easiest method but it can be done and does work.

Are you referring to the inability to have video files amongst your images and maintain the audio soundtrack of the videos?
Resolution for this is certainly high on our to-do list, but unfortunately it is such a huge task that we have pushed back its implementation a number of times.
Also there is a perfectly reasonable alternative which is to use the "Multiple Slideshow Disk" functionality and add each of your videos as a slideshow. This allows you to have a title page, images with music and videos with their soundtrack.
