I am trying to get a slideshow finished before the Thursday holiday. Like I explained in my other two threads, the audio on the video clips at the start of the slideshow are not in sync with the video clips. This has never happened before, so I have no idea what could be causing this. They play just fine when you open them individually.
I gave up using the video clip I was having trouble with, so these clips are from my own camera, so I don't know why they don't work all of a sudden.
I even ran a diagnostic check on my computer to see if there might be a damaged driver, etc. I also ran a full anitivirus scan, and also a spyware scan. Everything seems to be ok.
I have even started from scratch and made the slideshow completely over, making sure that the option to maintain the sound of the videos is selected. 3 tries, and it just does not work.
Could there be something wrong with my Pixplay program? I would appreciate anything you can tell me. I do so want this done to show the relatives on Thursday.
Thank you!

To Prompt you to save your file ---do the following:

VIEW>OPTIONS>OTHER OPTIONS>ADVANCE OPTIONS>ADVANCE TAB---uncheck "Automatically save projects (without prompting) Then click OK

Regarding the PRISM VIDEO CONVERTER:

Did you set OUTPUT FORMAT: .MPG
ENCODING OPTIONS:
VIDEO: MPEG2
AUDIO: SAMPLERATE 48000
BITRATE 128

Jim,
I have moved all the videos to the start of the project, with the command "move videos to start", then inserted a title page, then my still images. On the music files, I made sure that the option was checked to allow original audio was not over ridden with the background music.
And I have done several slideshows in this same manner, and never had trouble with audio being out of sync before.
And as I mentioned, Pixplay is not prompting me with "your slideshow has changed, do you wish to save it" anymore when I close out of it. I like to save the changes I made, and go back and maybe change it again before I reburn it a second time. So the changes I made are not there when I go back to the project and open it again. Is there a reason why I am not getting the prompt to save?
I changed to the 4.05 version a while back, but I am not sure if I used it with video clips in it first or not. I had no problems with the older version.

Do you have any title pages or image slides before your video clips?

At present DVD PixPlay does not support audio for video files unless they are before all images (and title pages) in the slidshow list.

If you have Title Pages, then video files then the audio track of the video files will not play.

If you want to hear the audio track of your videos you will need to move them to the start of the slideshow (Edit>Advance>Move Videos to Start).

Thanks again Jim. I know how to remove programs from my computer, I just wanted to make sure that that debut program didn't share any drivers and cause a problem by deleting it.

I have a feeling I am just not giong to be able to use that special clip.
Thanks anyway.

If AC3 was selected and it did not work than try the other selection MPEG Layered 2.

On Step 2 of 3 in the burning wizard---Under Display Option>Output Quality select "Higest Alternate"

You can remove any program you do not want any more by using the Windows Remove Program. There is no guarantee that it will remove all files but it is probably good 99% of the time.

Jim,
I went through all that, and it already had the AC3 selected. So I have no idea why you can't hear the audio on that particular clip.
If you have any other ideas on how to get the audio on that, please let me know. I have until tonight to burn another copy.

I was able to download that Quicktime video clip I have had such nightmares onto Photobucket. Is there any way to capture it from that site and into my Pixplay?

BTW, I mistakenly checked to download the Debut Video capture along with the Prizm download. That is not something I probably would use, so can I safely remove it from my computer without running into any other codec problems?

Select View>Options on the DVD PixPlay menu. Select the "Other Options" tab and click "Advanced Options" then select the "Compatability" tab. The setting you are looking for is "Audio format for DVD compliant MPEGs". On the selection box select "AC3".

Hopefully this should give you the slideshow you are looking for---and in time for THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

To add to what I just typed....I am getting closer. I ran that problem file through the prizm, even enlarged it. I added it to the Pixplay slideshow and when I preview the frame it does play....but it has no audio at all.

So if I could get audio on this clip, I would have a success I think, and be able to get this slideshow done by tonight.
I have Wavepad Master's edition on my computer...I thought that could be used to fix the audio portion of the clip, but it will not open even the converted file.

Any advice you could give me on getting this audio to work?
Thanks!

Jim,
I ran the files that I downloaded from the Flickr site through the Prizm, and seem to work OK. They open with Media Player Classic. I think all other files of that type open with my Windows Media. Will I have a conflict with these other files?

And I also tried tunning that problem Quicktime file through it to convert it. It now opens in it's own window with Media Player Classic, but has it's own controls still at the bottom, to start, stop, volume etc. That type of video clip cannot be used in Pixplay, can it? I also made a copy of that video clip before I started messing with it, because it is an important occasion, and that is why I am trying so hard to include it in a slideshow. When I opened it, I got "some file types are associated with Quicktims and are currently associated with other applications. Should I restore these file types to Quicktime?" I answered no....is that the way I should leave it?
Thanks!

This is a message indicating that you have a broken shortcut to that codec when you install the K-lite codec pack it should be corrected.

If you want you could install the Direct Show codecs from here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectShow_FilterPack.htm

Jim
I downloaded and installed the first codec link you gave me. At eh end of the install, I got this window...The following direct show filter was detected as broken.
Name: Lead mcmp/mjpegcodec
file name: c:/windows\system\1codccmp.dll and another whole string of numbers that I wrote down if you need them
And at the end...reason-file not found

And then I got a window saying it was recommended that I remove this file from the registry before continuing. I was very nervous about doing that, but it did tell me it was recommended. Have I made a huge mistake, or did I do it correctly?

I also downloaded the Prism software. It asked me which related programs to select. The only one I checked was the Debut video capture. Was that correct?

Take all your video clips that you are going to use in the slideshow and convert them using the PRISM software.

You can convert them to AVI or MPEG --with MPEG as the better choice. You seem to be using all different kinds of videos and audio files (QUICKTIME,ITUNES, KODAK ETC)so by converting them using this one program than they should be the same format.

DVD PIXPLAY DOES NOT SUPPORT MOV(QUICKTIME) AND VIDEO CAMERAS USE MANY DIFFERNT CODECS MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONVERT ALL OF THEM CORRECTLY.

Jim,
The particular Quicktime file that I cannot convert was taken with a Kodak camera.(21.9 mb) I don't have their Easy Share program on my computer, I don't suppose that is part of the problem? I have the problem file in a file in "My Pictures". And I always use the thumbnail view of all the pictures I have in my picture files. That one remains just the icon, and when you click on it, it opens it in a small window with controls at the bottom. All of my other video clips look like a normal photo, meaning I can't tell if they are video clips until I click on them, hope you understand what I mean here.

Also, the link you left about not supporting the Quicktime files...would it work for a camera other than Nikon, I assume? I am leary of downloading anything unless I am sure it would work for a Kodak camera also.

And I really appreciate all the time you guys have taken to answer my many questions. Believe it or not, I am learning something with each problem I run across.
Bettei Posted - Nov 25 2008 : 06:39:24
I have upgraded a while back to the newer version...is it 4.05. I think I burned a successful show after that, not sure. I also noticed after the second attempt at burning this slideshow, that when I closed out of the show, I did not get the prompt "the version of the slideshow has changed, do you wish to save anyway".
I was afraid when I closed it, that I had lost it, but it was there when I opened up Pixplay again.
JIMD Posted - Nov 25 2008 : 06:19:41

It sounds like you require an MJPEG codec.

You can get the codec free by downloading the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack:

http://www.codecpackguide.com/klmcodec.htm

or at:

http://www.free-codecs.com/Motion_JPEG_Codec_download.htm

NOTE: DVD PIXPLAY DOES NOT SUPPORT QUICKTIME MOV FILES--MOST NIKON CAMERAS USE THIS FORMAT
Use this link to convert QUICKTIME files:

Hi

Please see my other response.

Also to confirm, these same video files have worked correctly before? Have you changed PixPlay versions since?
