As always thay say read the instructions before you jump- as you say inserted video clips do not , at the moment , support sound as well.
Followed your suggestion however and extracted the sound and inserted it as a seperate MP3 file. It was a bit tricky to sync it with the timings but got there in the end.

Current PixPlay instructions (to the best of my knowledge) still require video clips to preceed all of the images in order to maintain the sound with the video clip. I have been using a work around for a couple of years that creates an MP3 file of the video sound track that you then add to the music play list. You do have to play around with the slide show timing to get it to start in synch with your video clip but it does work. I have been inserting AVI video clips from a Canon camera in to my DVDs and it works very well for me. As stated in my other post I used a piece of software called Audio/Video To MP3 Maker that is a tool for converting almost all kinds of audio and video sound files to an MP3 file. I'm sure there are other tools available that would also do this.
I have asked Nigel to put a solution for this on the wish list!

hi, I wonder if anybody can help.
I am making a DVD pixplay DVD with a number of images with MPEG video files inserted in between . With the option to play both background music and the video soundtrack checked these play OK on the preview and both can be heard . However when I burn the DVD I get no video sound. However, if I check the option to play the video's first before the images I get sound. The same happens if I burn the project in a VCD format.

I have been using PixPlay for a long time. I have made a number of DVDs using PixPlay and inserting video clips throughout the DVD. I use a piece of software called Audio/Video To MP3 Maker that is a tool for converting almost all kinds of audio and video files to an MP3 file. This software lets you make an MP3 file of the sound track. You then add this track as an MP3 file to the background music files. You do have to time the MP3 file to start at the same time as the video clip but PixPlay does tell you exactly when each frame starts. The DVD I have just completed has 665 files including 9 videos. If you have a lot of files it does take time but it can be done.

WMV (and a few AVI types) are a special case in PixPlay, as they are only encoded using a Windows library (rather than natively). This means that the process will fail if there is an issue with the Windows drivers.
You would be better off to convert to one of the natively supported formats, such as MPEG.

Use any image files (JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG...), raw camera images (CRW, NEF...), common sounds (MP3, WMA, WAV...) or video files (AVI, MPEG...)
DVD PixPlay uses an encoding library for video conversion, but standard windows drivers for preview. That means that there are some formats that it has no problem converting but for which it cannot display a preview because a driver cannot be accessed.
AVI is not a single format, it acts as a container for many different video formats. Windows supports all the common formats already, so DVD PixPlay has no problem showing them during a preview. However for less common formats you will need to download the requisite drivers if you want to see a preview:
Of course, not being able to preview the video file won't prevent you from creating a slideshow and you can see the slideshow before burning it by clicking the "Test" button in the Create Disk wizard.

Are you limited to AVI files? I am using WMV files in my slide show and it only shows the first frame of the clip. |

replaced vid file with another which I had used before in a slide show . All worked OK. Tried the original Vid clip again and surprise surprise it worked . Baffled as I tried it a number of times prior to contacting you.
Never mind , alls well that ends well . Thanks for your help you are doing a good job |

That's a crash within the MPEG generation library. In other words, it is choking on the AVI  Does it do it with all your AVI files, or just ones from a specific source?

It has always been my understanding that you could not insert video files between still images therefore it was with pleasure I saw your answer to the query .However when I inserted a video and attempted to burn to DVd when we got to the video file the following message appeared on the Slideshow Creation Wizard. "Exception EMON in module
libmal-4,5,1,d11 at 00065BE3 UNI protocal fault.
Slide show has 41 still images and one video in the middle .Set up is 4 music tracks selected to play through out duration of slide show . Background sound of video is not selected.
Am I misunderstanding your comments that you can insert videos in between still images as long as the video music is not selected |

FYI, Michel is referring to the fact that presently DVD PixPlay can only use the sound track of the videos in a slideshow if there are no images except after the final video.

If you want to add it to a project with other images and/or videos select Edit>Add Images/Videos from the menu, select the folder containing the video, check the box below the thumbnail of it and click the Add button
