I haven't added mew music to my playlist for quite some time, but I have done it successfully many times before.
Today I downloaded a song from itunes, sent it to my windows media converter to the MP3 version, and put a copy in "my Music folder. It is there alright, but I can't for the life of me get it to appear in the DVDPixplay music list.
I have sent copies of the file to program files/pixplay, and it tells me there is already a copy there, but it does not appear in the playlist.
This is the first time I have used itunes. Even though I then ripped the song to a cd, then downloaded it to my media player, is there a conflict on opening the file between windows and itunes?
How frustrating!!! Please advise.

I do have the new v4 format downloaded, and I finally got the song to appear after removing itunes from my computer. Then I again tried to rip the song from the cd I had made, and finally got the whole thing accomplished.
Now more itunes for me.....and thanks for your help. |

iTunes doesn't want you re-using their songs, that's why they make the process difficult.
I've heard a lot of good things about the Amazon music service.
Regarding your particular problem, if DPP is not seeing the files in the folder you specified then they must have a different file extension (e.g. .WMA instead of .MP3).
Firstly, download v4.01 as it supports WMA format:

Then browse to the folder again using DVD PixPlay.
If they are still not listed go to the folder using Windows Explorer, right click your saved music file and choose "Properties". What is the full filename and file type listed there?

I can right click on the song I want in itunes, and one of the options is convert to MP3...which I did again. Isn't there any easy way of copying and sending that music file directly to pixplay music files using itunes controls and settings?
Seems like they make it more difficult than it needs to be. I had no trouble doing all this with Sony's sonic stage music store.
Oh well..

Just because a file says it is MP3 DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS A TRUE MP3
Converting Non-Protected Files
You can use iTunes to convert the media files to MP3 format. To do so, you need to -
Open the iTunes and move to 'Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing' and then change the 'Import Using' to 'MP3 Encoder'.
Save the settings.
Go to the library and right-click on a music track and choose the option which reads 'Convert Selection to MP3'. If the track is not protected then you'll be able to convert it to MP3 format. However, if the track is a protected one then iTunes will pop-up a window telling you that the protected track cannot be converted to other formats.
Converting Protected File
Burn the track(s) to a compact disc and make sure that you burn an audio CD and not a data CD.
Use the iTunes to access the audio CD and add the media files to the library.
Right click the media file and select 'Convert Selection to MP3'.
If you've a large number of media files to be converted to MP3 format then you may even use a CD Emulator to simulate a real CD burner to avoid the multiple CD-R discs.

I guess I am not explaining it correctly. I haveconverted it to MP3, it appears that way in my Windows Media library. From there I sent a copy to c/program files/dvdpixplay. However when I browse for it in the Pixplay music files, it is not there.
When I try to send another copy, it says that file already exists. Very frustrating, when I have had no problems doing this before.
Windows Media is the program I have to open this type of file. Is that the problem? Do I have to change that? I hope not. |

DVD PixPlay presently only supports MP3,WAV and WMA files,so if it is not one of these formats it will not show up in the MUSIC FILE.

That is why I downloaded the song to a cd, then in turn put it back onto my computer in my media library.
And like I said, I have placed songs in C/program files/dvdpixplay many times before, and I know how to browse for new music files to add to the slideshow. But for some reason, I cannot get it to appear in pixplay's music files, so I can't browse for it.
And I don't get it, because I can see it in "MY Music" files, I just can't get it to Pixplay this time. |

1. Copy the mp3 file you created and filed in your "My Music File" to the following
C:\Program Files\DVD Pixplay\Music
2. Make sure the file is there and has the MP3 icon shown
3. Start DVD Pixplay and open the slideshow you want
4. On the right hand side under Slidehow Properties go to the Background Music
5. Click on the Music Icon and than click on the ADD SOUND FILE BOX
6. Find the file you added to the Music File
7. Click on it---Click on Open
8. On the next screen that appears--SLIDESHOW PROPERTIES---CLICK ON OK
HOPE THAT WORKS FOR YOU! ! ! HOWEVER--MOST ITUNES CAN NOT BE CONVERTED TO MP3 BECAUSE THEY ARE COPY PROTECTIVE BY APPLE --SO USE A DIFFERENT SOURCE
