If double opt-in and/or opt-out checkboxes are checked (in Options window), does MLK send confirmation e-mail when it processes a web form ?

Design for the preview pane of email applications. That means you've got about 500, 600 pixels tops for your email designs. If you think recipients will actually double click an email to view your message in full screen "to appreciate all its glory," send us whatever you're smokin.

Hi Julien

Yes, it does. Subscribes and unsubscribes via web form are handled in the same way as a normal Subscribes/unsubscribes.

Would it be possible to add a "command field" to instruct MLK not to perform double opt-in or double opt-out in specific case ?

Yes, it may be possible. Can you tell us a little bit more about what you have in mind.

I have an MLK database with both double opt-in and opt-out active and we are very happy with that way.

But in some cases it's a "burden" and we would like MLK to perform the subscribe or unsubscribe process without waiting for user confirmation :

Subscribe and unsubscribe requests can come from two sources :

1- Public Website (double opt-in and opt-out are required here)

2- Private Administration Panel (double opt-in and opt-out are not required here) :

Basically this panel is used to subscribe or unsubscribe users when they can't do it themselves. When we use that panel we already received a phone call from our customers telling us that it's ok to use their emails. Also those people don't check their mail too often.

So in this case we would like to have a field in the web form :
Opt-in: mute
Opt-out: mute

That panel is also used by operators who are not allowed to access the MLK software.

Hope it's clear enough for you.

Thank you.

Hi Julien

With normal subscribe/unsubscribe messages you can disable acknowledgements and double opt-ins using the SILENT command, e.g.

Message of Subject: SUBSCRIBE red@shawshank.org SILENT

With web form messages you can override your settings by adding a "Verbosity" field to your form (available in v8.11 which will be ready next week, I expect). There are four possible values:

Verbosity: Normal : Default option (so it is assumed if the Verbosity field is not found). Acknowledgements and Double Opt-Ins are sent as per your settings
Verbosity: NoOptIns : Acknowledgements are sent (if enabled in Options). Processing occurs without requiring Double Opt-In confirmation
Verbosity: NoAcks : Double Opt-In messages are sent (if enabled in Options). Processing Acknowledgement messages are not sent
Verbosity: Silent : Processing Acknowledgement and Double Opt-In messages are not sent
