Dear Xequte Software User,

As promised last month, we have new releases of Smart Pix and MegaView fresh out of the oven for your dining pleasure.  Improvements for these releases were based mainly on suggestions from our users, so if you've been thinking of emailing us with your own suggestions you might want to get them in for next time.

We've also ensured the new versions work well under Windows 7 in preparation for it's release this month.

We are hard at work on one more big project for 2009, so without further ado, the new releases...

Regards

* Program Tips

- Smart Pix Manager: Visualizing and Searching Photos by Date

V11 enhances the date search functionality of Smart Pix with a new date graph (Screenshot) which instantly shows you which years and months you took the most photos and allows you to drill down to display photos from specific months or years.

To access the feature:

  1. Select "Media Library" tab in your mode display window
  2. From the Search box select "Search by Date"
  3. Select a year (or multiple years by holding down Ctrl) and click Search to photos taken that year

Or expand the year to view and search by month

- MegaView (also in Smart Pix): Displaying a Map of your Photo Location

These days many digital cameras and phone cameras include GPS and whenever you take a photo your exact location is saved inside the photo data.  MegaView and Smart Pix V11 now allow you to view a map (or satellite image) of the exact location you took a photo (Screenshot), which is particularly handy when reminiscing over your holiday pics.

To view a map of the currently displayed photo:

  1. Display your File Information tab by selecting File > File Information or Alt+Enter
  2. Select the "Map" tab
  3. Choose either the "Map" or "Satellite" View
Note: If the map tab is not visible your photo does not include any GPS data

- DVD PixPlay: Adding Fun to your Photos

Want to add a sarcastic thought bubble to your wife or a Santa hat to your father-in-law?  DVD PixPlay includes a selection of clip art including thought and speech bubbles and seasonal items.

Adding text and clipart to your photos is simple:

  1. Select the frame and click Frame > Add Text
  2. In the Frame Text editor click "Add Clip Art" or "Add a Shape"
  3. Select the clipart and click OK
  4. Click the added item and drag it to your desired position

- MailList King: Message Preview and Statistics

An important tool when sending is the message preview.  This displays the message as your users will see in their email software so you should always preview your message before sending to check for any formatting or image embedding issues.  You can force MailList King to always display the Preview dialog before sending by enabling the relevant option under View > Options, "Sending" tab,  Other Sending Settings.
