10 August 2008

In this Issue:

  • MailList King V7.30 Released
  • DVD PixPlay V4.01 Update
  • Program Tips
  • Removing yourself from this List

Dear Xequte Software User,

Firstly, thank you to all the MailList King V7 users that responded to our survey last month.  We’ve totted up all your votes and will be using the data to decide what features get added in coming releases.  Secretly we were already working on one of the proposed features in the survey, Outlook Contacts Synchronization.  Fortunately it was one of the most popular requests so that fitted in quite nicely.  That feature is now available in v7.30 (see below).  Keep an eye on upcoming updates for your other requests.

And - if you'll excuse the shameless self-promotion - we're glad to hear that 82% of respondents report the quality of the software as above average or excellent.  And around 70% of you said the same of our technical support.

Remember that for the quickest and most in-depth responses to your technical problems post to our user forum at:

www.xequte.com/userforum/

And if you have any other feedback about any of our products, don't hesitate to e-mail us at sales@xequte.com

Regards

We've also put a lot of work into making the software less wieldy by demoting some infrequently used options and improving the documentation.

  3. Major rewrite of the Help file including a new "Quick Start Guide"
  4. Can now edit the automatic "Vacation" message
  5. Many improvements to the "Start Up Experience"

* Program Tips

- DVD PixPlay: Viewing details on your slideshow files

When working on your slideshow you often want a quick overview of all frames, to see, for instance, which frames do not have a caption or motion effect assigned.  For this, "Full Details" display mode is invaluable.  Enable it under the View menu to have details on all frames displayed in columnar layout.  You can choose which columns to display and their order by selecting View > Select Columns.

- MailList King: Synchronizing your mailing list with Outlook Contacts

OK, I've mentioned this feature twice in the newsletter already so perhaps I'm overdoing it, but here are some tips to get you up to speed:

  • It's available under List > Synchronize Outlook Contacts
  • You can set it to automatically synchronize each day (middle of the night would be my recommendation)
  • If you use Outlook Categories, MailList King can treat them as "Groups"
  • Its useful also when importing Contacts into MailList King, because it will update the details of any members that already exist in your list
  • Likewise when exporting to Outlook, it won't try to add contacts that already exist

- Smart Pix Manager (also MegaView): Slideshow System Tray Icon

You might not have noticed that during a slideshow a small icon appears in your system tray.  Hovering the mouse over the icon gives you the name of the current file, and clicking on it gives you quick access to functions to skip files or pause the slideshow.  It is particularly useful when you are using Smart Pix/MegaView to playback your music files and have minimized it to the taskbar

- MegaView (also Smart Pix Manager): Reordering files

If you have a particular set of images that you want to display (for example a selection of baby photos when friends visit) you can create a playlist by adding your files to Favorites (File > Add to Favorites) and then click the Favorites tab to see all the files.  You can then reorder those files by dragging and dropping them to new positions.  When you are finished you can save your selection to a Favorites File List for later use.
